Often called the Godfather of Techno, Juan Atkins coined the term and created the blueprint through Cybotron and his label Metroplex. Without Atkins, techno as we know it does not exist.
Eddie Fowlkes
Detroit Techno Originator
Known as Flashin' Eddie Fowlkes, he is the catalyst of Detroit techno. His 1986 debut "Goodbye Kiss" was among the first records to define the genre, and his label Detroit Wax became a home for the deep, hypnotic Detroit sound.
Kevin Saunderson
Detroit Techno Originator
Kevin Saunderson brought the soul of Detroit to the world through Inner City, crossing from underground clubs to mainstream charts without ever losing the city's heartbeat. His track "Big Fun" reached the UK Top 10 in 1988.
Derrick May
Detroit Techno Originator
Derrick May crafted techno as pure emotion — complex, cinematic, and deeply human despite its mechanical foundation. His 1987 recording "Strings of Life" as Rhythim Is Rhythim remains one of the most important electronic music recordings ever made.
Frequency 313 is more than a musical collective it is the continuation of a legacy that changed the world. Born from the vision behind One Into Many, Many Into One, Frequency 313 brings together the founding architects of techno music: Juan Atkins, Eddie Fowlkes, Kevin Saunderson, and Derrick May — four Detroit visionaries whose contributions to electronic music are unmatched in scope and influence.

The Activation
Where the Story Comes to Life
Techno was invented in Detroit. The world knows it. But most people at Movement couldn't name the four people who built it from the ground up.
A booth experience designed to stop foot traffic, create participation, generate content, and send people home with something they didn't expect.
Why it works
